We also accept accessories such as mirrors, lamps, and ornate items to decorate with. These items are reviewed when you drop them off, and we will let you know if we think that we can sell them for you. If you want to live a more humble and quaint life, why not build yourself a cute little cottage? These can be particularly fun if you are on a multiplayer server, where you aim to hide from your fellow players. For a game all about digging down, it’s not very often that you think to look up. Throw in the benefit of often having much better and wider views of your surrounding area, and there seem to only be upsides to crafting a home high in the treeline.

Nothing says Minecraft cave houses more than a Hobbit hole, with snug rooms, and low ceilings. But Minecraft cave houses come in many varieties, whether it’s a hive-like home hanging from a cave wall, or a house actually built in the Nether. There are tonnes of options, but the key with Minecraft cave houses is making sure they’re hostile-proof.

Like the one above, there are tonnes of wooden designs that are beautiful, and not too hard to put into practice, no matter your experience level with building. Once the article is sold, the consignor will receive 60% of the actual selling price for items priced above $50. Checks are processed on a monthly basis and you will be notified once your check is ready.

When is Bella's House open?

Bella’s House Consignment Furniture and More offers a unique selection of new and slightly used furniture, lamps, mirrors and more. Nicole has dropped hints that Sunday is interested in following in mom’s footsteps. In addition to showing an interest in directing, she’s also participated in theater.

This means that you can mainly use this for inspiration. With its close proximity to ores and precious loot, it’s a great place for your next building project. If you fancy keeping your belongings below the surface, this fantastic guide shows you how to make your very own underground house. Keep some glass blocks handy so you can keep an eye on what’s going on above!

We do offer furniture pickup services for $125/hr, and our pickup openings do fill up quickly. Sharing your experience helps others make the right decision when searching for a business like this.

At Bella's House we offer to sell by consignment quality furniture, rugs, lamps, mirrors, pictures, books, accessories, fine jewlery and much more. We gladly accept your upholstered furniture that is not ripped or torn. We do ask that you call or come by to discuss that we have a market for your article at a particular time. Also keep in mind for underwater houses, you are often required to build a tunnel to get to the house, either straight down through the water or underground, and then up into the house. Either way, this permits you to come up with some unique ideas on how to conceal the entrance so those who don’t look too closely won’t even realize you’re dwelling beneath them.

Yes we do have many antiques and collectibles in the store. We are not an antique store and we do not have the knowledge to appraise these types of things. We like to think of our store as a place to find usable items. If you have an antique that can be reasonably priced we would love to help you find a home for it. The perfect fit for the more discreet amongst you, having a base underground makes you completely undetectable from the surface. This advantage is even more exaggerated should you use a Redstone contraption with hidden doors and moving walls to make your entrance appear completely natural - nothing amiss.

Bellafindings.com will always contact you if the shipping costs are more than the estimate shown at the checkout page. Shipping outside the USA will be done through the United States Postal Service and will cost about $36.00 for a small box. A Cottagecore aesthetic is definitely for you if you’re up for making a cute Minecraft world. They involve more decoration and materials to add detail, like something seen in a fairytale. Using cherry blossom planks along with other flowers such as lilacs to create an idyllic cottage allows you to have a relaxing time living amongst nature in your world. Who doesn’t want to build a mansion to hold all of their diamonds in Minecraft?

Due to Minecraft’s 3D aspect, blocky modern houses can be made to look realistic in the game. You can build your modern house out of quartz, clay, or wool. Your modern house can include a garden out front where you could put your animals, grow crops, or have a swimming pool to relax next to after a long day of mining. We provide free ground shipping on orders of $200 or more for beads and findings only (Excluding Jewelry boxes displays and tools).

Although Bella has an active Instagram, followers shouldn’t expect her to share family moments. Nicole Kidman’s greatest role isn’t on the big or small screen. Instead, it’s being the best mom possible to her four children. This can even be beneficial in solo play, as having a Redstone-controlled secret base ensures that no Mobs can break down a door and invade your private safe space. Whilst you can always discover and take over the humongous Woodland Mansions that spawn in your world, it will more than likely feel like a hollow victory. Only through hard work and perseverance can the decadence of a mansion feel truly earned.

We take den/living room furniture that is in good condition. We are limited on space for upholstered pieces and these items typically don't sell for very much. These can be simply chairs or sold as a table by itself. Odd pieces such as tables, cabinets, shelves, chairs all sell very well. Why not take it to the literal chilliest of extremes and make an icy igloo your HQ? Below you'll find some of our top Minecraft house ideas; from simple and cute builds, to elaborate castles, it's time to make your next house epic; whatever that means for you.

Aesthetic Minecraft houses are a lot of things – cozy winter chalets, retro vintage houses, or in this case, a Japanese-style pagoda. We are no longer accepting rugs, jewelry, bedding, window treatments, china, glassware, or country decorating accessories. Price Changes On some rare occasions we have to change prices that occur due to computer errors. We will contact you with the correct price before the items are shipped out. To get down, you can use vines to be as inconspicuous as possible, or ladders/waterfalls if your build is aiming to be on the larger side. Our treatment facility provides individuals with both individual and group counseling. Additionally, we strive to ensure that we provide individuals with a detailed plan for returning to an enhanced quality of life after leaving Bella’s House.

It's time to make your next house epic (or simple, or hidden, or weird....you decide!)

On the contrary, it’s amazing what’s made with minimal, elegant architecture, and some floral decoration. We do not sell children's furniture such as cribs, strollers and high chairs. We no longer accept bedding, window treatments, china or glassware. We do not accept accessories of the country motif or handmade items such as needlepoint. Bedroom furniture such as dressers, chests, beds, nightstands.

Cottagecore Minecraft house

Bella's House was established in 2005 in a quaint, 2000 square foot space filling Burlington's need for a quality, consignment furniture store. After a few short months, the business expanded to a larger storefront. The success of selling consignment furniture made it possible to offer new lines of furniture, lamps, and decorative accessories that compliment the large amount of used items in the store. One of the fundamental parts of your Minecraft experience is building your forever home. You might be focused on the basics, such as building cute houses (we see you, cottagecore), and simplicity may be key for you.

Our bulk purchasing practices assure that you will receive the absolute lowest price and fastest shipping in the industry. The items are reduced in price every 30 days and kept on the floor for up to four months. The owner receives 60% of the actual selling price for items over $50 and 50% for items under $50. Everyone begins somewhere, and Minecraft starter houses offer easy-to-build templates based upon procurable materials. But that doesn’t mean Minecraft starter houses are dull.

Deal of the Day

Make a mark on the world that stands out, as opposed to blending in. With many modern houses, you see architects aiming to build a cool house that's unique. After all, Minecraft being the ultimate creativity tool should lend you some amount of personal expression. (If you're just beginning to plan your modern house build, we like this easy tutorial video on how to build your first modern house in Minecraft). Attempting to build with similar materials, which just so happen to be those most abundant early on in your gameplay, it can begin to feel iterative and too similar to the last time you started a new world.

Welcome to Bella Findings House

Whether you’re an expert builder or you barely know how to build a house in Minecraft, a castle has likely crossed your mind as a long-term goal. Particularly excellent alongside other medieval-style builds (even more so if you apply a complimentary texture pack), castles can feel restrictive in your approach to building them. For those wanting to live more lavishly, a mansion is an excellent project to display the wealth of resources and items that you have accumulated as you’ve explored.

You can choose to create a wholly unique castle, or you can take inspiration from famous castles from real life or in fiction. Be it Windsor Castle in England, Kaer Morhen from The Witcher series, or Hogwarts Castle from Harry Potter, choose something that you have a personal affinity for. Not only will it give you the drive to continue with these lengthy builds, but it can also give you specific elements to build off of. Start with the Great Hall of Hogwarts, the drawbridge of Castle Greyskull, whatever it takes to start the process with a memorable section, and flesh it out from there. The age-old build that everyone has tried at one point or another.

Minecraft castle

A regal castle is a great idea if you’re looking for a big final build for your Minecraft kingdom. The Minecraft desert biome is one of the more desolate, but if you’re wanting an easy building material, look no further. Sandstone, sand, and glass are incredibly easily attainable and are great materials for building in the desert. What’s more, there’s plenty of open space meaning that you can build as much as you want and there will be little in the way of whatever you desire. Sometimes you just want something that simply looks good, but also isn’t ridiculously complicated to make.

We try to keep our store stocked with nice things that someone would want to use in their home. We consider how old and if that item can be used in decorating a home. We also consider the pricing based on what you might pay for that item if it were new and sell it for approximately half. Drawers should open and close properly and nothing should be broken. A natural progression for many people due to the importance of farming as you get further into your game, a farmstead is a wonderful way to naturally expand your home. Minecraft castles are a great way to protect yourself in a survival world, you can build a wall around your base to keep the mobs far from causing any harm and create your own base inside.

Let’s crack on and find out how to make Minecraft houses to make all the neighbours jealous. The process of overcoming and learning to live with an addiction is an enormous challenge. The road is long and difficult, and should not be tackled alone. At Bella’s House, you will find the support and information you need to start on the path to recovery.

Although this build is a challenge, it’s worth it and a great way to show off your skills and achievements in the game. What’s more, you can create a large space to stay safe from any mobs that might want to kill you. At the end of the consignment period the item will be removed from inventory. At that time Bella’s House will dispose of in the appropriate matter. If you, the consignor, wish to have the item returned it will be your responsibility to pick it up before the end of 120 days, otherwise, it will be donated.

A seemingly simple build idea that can actually be quite difficult to pull off effectively, treehouses can be an eco-friendly way of leaving your footprint on the world. Often quite small and cute (think an Ewok hut in Return of the Jedi), you’ll likely want to use all-natural materials for these builds so that they blend in as much as possible. Having that in mind, why not make some bold choices, not only in the design and layout of your house, but the materials used?

There are lots of nice houses in Minecraft, but our personal favourite is the classic Minecraft treehouse. There’s something so satisfying about being high up in the air, surrounded by a beautiful canopy of green. Minecraft treehouses also have a natural defence against roaming hostiles, so are both pretty and functional.

Since the Nether update, it’s a much more diverse realm in Minecraft, with so many new biomes to explore and so much more to do. This means that you may want to build a base there to protect yourself, such as a cottage out of crimson or warped wood. If, like us, you lack even the most basic architectural competence, then designing a Minecraft house that looks nice – and isn’t literally a box – is quite the trial. But great Minecraft houses aren’t just for the architecturally endowed – kind strangers from across the internet share their Minecraft house designs on a regular basis. Bella’s House residential rehab treatment facility offers a wide array of resources and support that you need to begin your life again including a supportive and understanding staff.

Step Inside 6 Midcentury-Modern Homes in California That Are Undeniably Enviable

modern inside house design

There was a lot of mold and potentially hazardous areas in the house, that the couple tackled themselves. The couple closed in January 2024 and started the clearing-out process immediately. The first step was to put tarps all over the roof to ensure no more water or moisture entered the house. Think of mossy green as a moody neutral per this Maestri Studio kitchen project.

Midcentury structure, with minimalist accents

Wood cladding and white render create high contrast across the facade. Do they hold back, like at Harvard, where there were dramatic videos of students literally running into Harvard yard with tents. And so Columbia, really, I think, at the end of the day, may have kicked off some of this. But they are now in league with a whole bunch of other universities that are struggling with the same set of questions.

Connecting With Family and Nature at The Totoro House

In your home, every room serves a purpose, yet your living spaces are the heart where memories are made and relaxation is key. You’ll want these areas to reflect a modern aesthetic that looks stylish and caters to the comfort and functionality of your day-to-day life. Clean lines and a natural color palette are on display in this contemporary living room designed by Erin Sander. This contemporary home designed by Erin Sander features a concrete console paired against natural elements like wood and greenery. This three-generation family home was designed to combine a traditional Vietnamese lifestyle with a more modern, multicultural way of living.

Elegant Living and Dining Spaces

Textiles and textures in a modern design are used strategically to add warmth and comfort without overwhelming the space. You might find a plush area rug or soft throw pillows to contrast the sleek surfaces around your home. Remember, the beauty of modern design lies in its ability to adapt to your personal taste while maintaining its core principles of simplicity and elegance. Solid concrete volumes interlock to form this linear piece of modern architecture on a green hill slope in Colima, México. Designed to honor the owner’s fond relationship with nature, the layout of Casa Entreparotas generates scenic routes that circulate the house and its wild borders.

The fresh, clean aesthetic might immediately catch your attention when you enter a modern home. Modern interior design celebrates simplicity, showcasing sleek lines, functional spaces, and a harmonious blend of form and function. For a bedroom off the nursery, Carmine Sabatella wanted to create a jewel-toned escape. “I thought, if somebody’s taking care of the baby, they have a space where they can come and feel like it’s a retreat,” Sabatella says. The designer outfitted a door handcrafted in India with a vintage mirror to create a one of a kind headboard and bathed the space in deep emerald green.

What is a modern living room design style?

You have faculty, including professors, who are not necessarily sympathetic to the protesters’ view of the war, who are really outraged about what Shafik has done here. They feel that she’s crossed a boundary that hasn’t been crossed on Columbia’s campus in a really long time. And for those students who maybe couldn’t go back to — into campus, now all of their peers, who were supporters or are in solidarity, are — in some sense, it’s further emboldened. They’re now not just sitting on the lawns for a pro-Palestinian cause, but also for the students, who have endured quite a lot.

Natural Elements in Interior Design

When the two took possession of the home, it had been empty for four years, the couple said. A family built it in the 1960s, and then it was passed down to two siblings, a son and a daughter. The son, an architect, lived in the home for many years, and then, when he passed away, the house went to his sister, who then sold it to Phipps and Volkov.

Many home designs in this category feature a look and feel that expresses a value for energy efficiency, unique use of space, and exterior and interior features of a modern persuasion. Perhaps the most outstanding feature of modern house interior design, though, is the integration of technology, which is taking place in a novel manner and with an unprecedented speed. Modern interior design is based on the principles of the modernism movement of the 19th and 20th centuries, Bauhaus philosophy and architecture, and the development of affordable and practical design. Furniture, art, and decoration moved away from ornate styles only available to the wealthy elite, to more practical, minimal styles for the masses. Modern living rooms draw from past design styles and aesthetics, reinventing traditions to create spaces that are less of a particular style than a sensibility.

And the result is that the leaders of those universities land before Congress. But the president of Columbia University, which is the subject we’re going to be talking about today, is not one of the leaders who shows up for that testimony. I’m a producer with “The Daily.” Just walked out of the 116 Street Station.

As for the furniture and decoratives in modern design, fewer non-renewable materials are used. This means that the remains of broken or overused furniture, say a couch, can be reused in some other form again; alternatively, if it’s buried somewhere out there, it won’t pose any threat to the environment. Informed by the work of mid-century architects and designers including Charles and Ray Eames, Canyon House was named house interior of the year at the Dezeen Awards 2021.

Some of the elements that define a transitional bathroom, living room, kitchen or bedroom are muted tones, the use of natural materials, shaker style storage, shiplap, sleek fixtures, large format tiles, and patina. Concrete isn’t just for sidewalks anymore; it’s become a chic and versatile element in home interiors. Imagine your space with a sleek concrete floor; it’s durable, easy to maintain, and gives off a minimalist vibe that’s all the rage. Your modern home might feature exposed brick, pipes, or steel beams — a nod to the industrial influence. It’s a style that repurposes the old, often incorporating vintage factory pieces for a touch of authenticity.

This Singaporean home has a huge pre-war rain tree in its landscaped garden. The home is focused on the tree’s presence, which is observed through glazed walls that fully retract and offer a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. Native California wildflowers accent the Arroyo Vista Garden, which was designed with fire safety in mind.

These days, after a major transformation, it has become a fashionable neighborhood with a lively nightlife scene. Open since 2003, The Soho House credits itself for importing cool to the area, while others attribute the start of gentrification to the designer boutiques. The relaxed location will have several food and beverage options, a wellness facility, spa, and guest bedrooms, which will all be juxtaposed against the area’s lush natural settings, primed for hiking and biking. The house is about a two-hour drive from Manhattan, or a 15-minute drive from the Rhinecliff, New York, train station.

Review: Cowshed Spa at Soho House New York

There's a distinct whiff of pretension that can come and go, which isn't from the staff -- they are friendly -- but rather from some of the members themselves. One floor above sits the rectangular rooftop pool and terrace. With decor that changes annually, cushy lounge chairs, umbrellas, and striking city views, this is one of the most coveted summer spots in Manhattan. (Fans of Sex and the City may remember when Samantha sneaked into the club to use this pool.) There's a salad bar serving healthy fare, and servers make the rounds delivering bottled water or colorful cocktails. The Ned’s interior spaces will sport their own names, like the Drawing Room and Conservatory.

If the understated entrance of Soho House is meant to throw off general bypassers, then it succeeds. The club was founded in London in the '90s, and British influences extend to the interior decor as well. Membership perks include monthly happenings like CEO-led workshops, rare whisky tastings, panel discussions, live music, and invites to offsite sporting and cultural events. Members across New York, London, and Doha can access all of Ned’s Clubs globally until the end of 2025. An additional 9 locations have opened in London since then. “Slashing members would help the brand but hurts profit… seems like a broken business model,” a director at Glass House Research, the firm behind the report, told The Post. It now has a total of 255,363 members including those at Soho Works and Soho friends worldwide at the end of 2023 — which long-term members say eliminated the club’s aura of exclusivity. But Soho House is “facing an existential crisis” according to a damning report from a Wall Street short selling firm that is betting the company’s stock price could fall to zero. Find thousands of other hotels, flights, car rentals and package deals with KAYAK. As this sanctuary does not sprawl, aprés-treatment options are limited to a steam room and a shower.

The Soho House New York -- not to be confused with SoHo, the neighborhood -- is a members-only club that caters to the film and media industries. The Meatpacking district locale also has 30 luxury hotel rooms -- Small, Medium and Big -- that are open to the public. Throw in the infamous rooftop pool and terrace -- which some consider worth the price alone -- the Cowshed spa, library, and free Wi-Fi (for those who attempt to get work done), and it's clear there's not another hotel in NYC quite like it.

The terrace provides spots to have drinks and meetings while munching on gourmet salads. Seating is first come, first serve here too, and poolside service is available. The cocktail hour is prime time, and drinks flow until late at night.

Those who choose to stay here pay steep prices not just for the rooms but for access to the private enclave -- in other words, Floor Six. This is where the club space is located with a restaurant, bar, and modern art collection. There's a buzz throughout most of the day, from breakfast (brunch on weekends) until the wee hours when the late-night menu is served. Attractive movers and shakers working on laptops, impressing colleagues, or dining at a number of chic sitting areas are omnipresent. Members are "creative" types, while Wall Street types, supposedly, aren't welcome to join, but that doesn't mean that Soho House has an absence of monetary worth.

Check-in is personal -- sometimes even done by the General Manager himself -- and then guests are whizzed up to their rooms via one of two elevators. Applications go live in May, but there’s a inquiry page here. The Ned comes from Soho House founder Nick Jones and billionaire investor Ron Burkle, whose public company Soho House & Co Inc. oversees both global brands. The countryside concept is similar to the U.K.’s Babington House, an 18-acre British estate outside of Bath with 33 rooms across its historic buildings, which has become somewhat of a celebrity retreat.

Design corrals to reduce cattle stress

A curved alley also saves steps for a person working both the crowd alley and squeeze chute. Gill feels that the curved crowd alley was adopted because people think cattle like to move in a circle. “It is critical to cattle flow that a Bud Box not be solid on the outside end. Open top halves allow cattle to see the handler on the opposite side of the fence where he controls flow.

The panels defining the enclosure are best if they are open-rail panels. This makes the pen more visually open which will encourage the livestock to enter the Bud Box more readily. Once the stock realize they can’t continue forward they will turn in the Bud Box to go back to the entrance. Many designs available from purchased books or the internet focus on a single portion of the facility system.

One-man corrals reduce labor requirements

At a minimum, the working alley should hold as many animals as you would ever bring into your Bud Box. If you will have someone working the squeeze chute while someone else is bringing up the next group of animals, you can benefit from having an alley that can accommodate an additional one or two animals. This would allow you to still have a couple of animals in the working alley when you bring the next group of animals into your Bud Box. For a Bud Box to function well, the pen requires specific design features and the handler must be skilled at safely working the flight zone of their cattle. If these two conditions are met, the Bud Box makes an excellent alternative to the standard crowding tub or cattle sweep.

Additional links

Most cow-calf operations will need a Box that is at least 12 feet wide and 20 feet deep. It can be 14 feet wide and should be if the handler will be horseback. Depending on the size of the cattle being worked it could be 16 feet wide if the handler in the Box will always be horseback.

You hear terms like "the Apple store of weed" thrown around as the industry adopts a shiny, law-abiding aura, and perhaps that's intimidating. Head shops haven't really gone through the same spiff-up, and maybe the grunge isn't your vibe, either. Plus, both are still physical locations, and you might be trying to avoid stepping foot in "places," because you've got better things to do with your time than "browse" or "use your feet." It’s a clever design that allows the use of the tub as a normal tub, or as a hybrid bud box/tub. “The crowd alley is the chute leading from the Bud Box or tub to the squeeze chute,” Gill further explains. Cattle should never be left in the box or tub after the crowd alley is filled.

While other boxes might have one “meh” item, no “meh” is allowed at A Golden State. High Society members also get 15% off everything at those three, fine The Natural Cannabis Co. dispensaries—for those extra VIP vibes. Coming soon, a suite of hard-to-find, beautiful, unique equity cannabis products from around the Bay. The star here is the landrace sativa strain Red Congolese. That’s why you see less of them than hybrid or indica plants. Connoisseurs hunt the Red Congo for its energy and sweetness.

An example of this would be either a tub design or a Bud box design. It is often said "If you can work cattle together, you can do anything together." We have all had a stressful chuteside experience, but have you investigated ways to better handle your cattle? As you prepare to wean calves, preg-check cows, and give fall booster vaccinations, you should consider looking into the "Bud Box." Don’t put more animals in the box than what the chute will hold, and don’t fill the box more than half-full. The single-file chute leading to the squeeze should be nearly empty before feeding the budbox or else you lose the momentum.

Double Alley

This is a round pen with a gate that hingest at the center point. Simple body position of the man on foot or horse is enough. The “Bud Box” design reminds me of the much older systems when all cattle were worked in large pens on horseback. The Box should be large enough to accommodate a volume of cattle to fill the crowd alley or fill a trailer compartment. A crowd alley to a squeeze chute should hold a minimum of 4 cows and might need to hold 20 head depending on the speed of processing.

bud box design

STORAGE, SIMPLE

While the Bud Box system will work with a single file alley, the double alley works with cattle’s natural instinct to go in as a group. The double alley becomes single file about one third of the way down and includes “no-back gates” that keep cattle from backing up once they have moved forward. The Bud Box should be fairly open so the animals will go into it easily. Remember, that the thing that makes this work is when they come to the dead end they naturally want to go back.

bud box design

A Box used in loading semi-trailers may require additional depth (30 feet maximum) to facilitate filling compartments quickly. If using this same large box for a crowd alley, the addition of a block gate in the Box to shorten it might be a good solution. Customized subscription boxes start at a pretty $150 for pre-rolls or jars, and go up to $300. It’s cheaper than eighths of Red Congo in a dispensary, and you get discounts on extra orders, of course. The box drops twice a week and includes exclusives, T-shirts, and rolling trays.

“If it is properly designed and the handler works it correctly, cattle flow into the Bud Box, hit a dead end and then turn back in the direction from which they came,” explains Gill. A Box can certainly be wider than an alley leading up to it. In fact, going from a 10 or 12 foot alleyway into a 14 foot wide Box will normally allow the cattle entering the Box to do so faster setting up the transition even better. Do not let the width of an alley dictate the width of the Box. The budbox and chute should have open sides because animals will feed easier if they can see out, and an outside handler can use body position to facilitate movement.

As the handler returns to the correct position, their movement with the cattle will stop flow and turn the cattle back. Neither response is desirable in getting cattle to flow out of the Box. Other aspects of a Box design that are critical to success relate to whether or not the sides are enclosed. It is absolutely essential to have the end of the Box open sided so cattle are going to light and will build speed as they enter the Box.

Menu details are slim for now, other than the fact Ned’s plans to use local and global ingredients in its drinks and food. Twenty years ago, the private members’ club and hotel for creatives, Soho House, made its American debut in New York City's Meatpacking District, ringing in a new era of cool and cachet. After all, even before it opened its doors, Sex and the City filmed the now-famous rooftop pool scene here, immediately cementing Soho House into pop culture.

The style may strike some as slightly bohemian (in the same vein as the Gramercy Park Hotel), which seems appropriate given the club's targeting of creative types.

Not only has it hosted comedian James Corden’s 2012 wedding and Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne’s 2014 nuptials, it's also a beloved vacation getaway for the likes of Courtney Cox. Since opening its first American location in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District back in 2003, Soho House has opened 14 other clubs in eight other US cities, a small portion of its 40 clubs globally. One source in the marketing business explained Soho house is “domestically dead but internationally on fire” — and the European spots have been the reason he’s held onto a membership. In December 2023, Soho House announced it was no longer admitting new members in New York, LA, or London after locations became too crowded and service suffered. But New Yorkers are skeptical that it will bring the club back to life. Search for Soho House New York discounts in New York with KAYAK.

They have repeatedly accused the Democratic administration of overreach on environmental regulations and have warned of a looming reliability crisis for the electric grid. The rules issued Thursday are among at least a half-dozen EPA rules limiting power plant emissions and wastewater pollution. About 30% of carbon dioxide emissions comes from the electricity sector, according to the EPA's website. The largest share – 35% – comes from the transportation sector, which generates about 24% of the nation's total greenhouse gas emissions. The EPA reports that burning coal produces more carbon dioxide than natural gas or oil. Half Bathroom Decor Ideas For Small Spaces

Ideal for small spaces, wall-mount vanities make a bath feel larger and roomier. The strong geometric shapes also modernize traditional black and white palettes. Invest in smart toilets for the added benefit of pampering technology like nightlights, hands-free flushing and self-closing lids.

The Timelessness of Shiplap Walls

Incorporate decorative accents like framed artwork, vintage mirrors, or curated collections of knick-knacks. Play with color schemes that resonate with your style, and don’t shy away from unexpected details like decorative faucets or ornate light fixtures. You can also incorporate thematic decor, such as coastal elements for a beachy vibe or vintage items for a retro touch. As much as we love bright hues and fanciful decor, there is a case to be made for neutral color palettes, crisp minimalism, and other sleek modern bathroom ideas. Contemporary style, with its earth tones and clean lines, offers a calming effect that’s ideal for washing up and winding down. Large, graphic patterns work much better in small spaces than tiny patterns.

Ceiling-Mounted Lights

It's crucial to leverage every square inch of precious space in small powder rooms. One way to do that is to install a vanity and sink that stretches from wall to wall, as seen in this design by Bethany Adams Interiors. By offsetting the tub and wall tile with a lighter shade, you create a sense of depth in a small space. A long mirror and shower partition creates the illusion of higher ceilings in this small bathroom.

Grab Storage Space Wherever It Is

Freeing the floor up from a vanity or pedestal gives you a little more wiggle room in a half bath to store baskets of extra towels or toilet paper underneath. If you prefer a modern and clean look in the bathroom, be sure to keep it simple. You can play with wallpaper but choose a graphic in a small print and the fixtures, like the vanity and light fixture, should be nothing short of sleek. Penny and subway tiles are two timeless styles that will likely never go out of style. If your older home has original features in the half bathroom, embrace the retro look and integrate thrifted furniture and classic damask wallpaper to complement it. Immersing oneself in innovative half-bath ideas can lead to the discovery of unexpected gems, like the rustic flagstone half-bath.

The art of combining utility with aesthetics has rarely found a more engaging expression than in such an inspired choice for a half bath. Complement this with accents of stone, raw and rugged, and the space transforms into a sanctuary of sensations. Every visit becomes an adventure, a journey across terrains of textures, making even the briefest moments in the half bath a vivid experience. With strategically placed ferns, succulents, and leafy wonders, you’ll find yourself soaking up the essence of the outdoors while indulging in moments of self-care. Let nature’s touch transport you to a serene realm, where the simple presence of potted plants transforms your half bath into a sanctuary of tranquility.

Floating Vanity

Bathrooms with white walls are a great option if you want to brighten a space and reflect natural light. If you have a small master bathroom vanity that provides plenty of storage, it can help free up much-needed counter space. A powder room project will include installing a new toilet, vanity, and light fixtures.

Balance Light & Dark

For example, place a gray double vanity against a light gray wall to minimize its depth and size. Accent with lighting and mirrors in silver finishes to add sparkle while keeping the effect streamlined and flat. If you like the concept of a frameless shower door but want a bit more dimension, consider one with metal latticework, like in this small bathroom design by Block Renovation. It creates a bit more separation between the shower and the rest of the room, but still helps the space feel large. The white-washed wooden texture adds an extra sense of earthiness.

Consider a Color Infusion

There are infinite variations of color schemes you can use in a bathroom. No matter how bold your color choice is, stick to a monochromatic palette to keep from overwhelming the small space. Choose an accent color or feature (such as the geometric blue wallpaper used here) and balance it out with black and white details. When working with limited square footage, a little creativity will go a long way. Consider mounting a scaled-down corner sink as a simple space-saving solution. Don’t hesitate to embrace a more maximalist decorating style by applying a playful wallpaper, bold hand towels, and statement mirror.

However, the real star of the show here is the material you opt for. From the personal to the bold to focusing on self-care and cutting down on cleaning time, here are some of this year’s biggest bathroom trends. These will work gorgeously in art-deco style bathrooms and green small bathrooms, too. Wainscoting paneling is a timeless choice that brings traditional charm to any small bathroom. "You cannot go wrong with a marble mosaic on the floor," Hunter says.

However, their smaller size can mean more room and budget to experiment with unusual colors and unique materials. Turn a powder room into a statement piece by painting the walls a glossy or matte black. Or cover walls in colored ceramic tile or semi-precious stones in onyx or jade tones. Invest in pairing a glass vessel sink and bright chrome hardware. A bright and neutral color scheme can help make a small bathroom sparkle. Take your cue from Elizabeth Vergara, interior designer and founder of Vergara Homes, by adding dimension via veining in a stone sink top, light fixtures, and tiny details.

"Take a risk with a saturated paint color or bold wallpaper print." Small bathrooms and powder rooms provide us with an opportunity to be a little more playful than we might be elsewhere. One small bathroom vanity idea is to match your countertop color with the wall color, creating the illusion of extended space. Modern small bathroom design focuses on clean lines and functional pieces which help bring sophistication while being perfect for daily use. You can add a seat for private phone calls or a nook for children whose parents use the room.

Gold decals or shiny copper hardware can make a bathroom look like it’s much more expensive than it is. Sophie has been an interior stylist and journalist for over 22 years and has worked for many of the main interior magazines during that time both in-house and as a freelancer. Color drenching has been a key trend over the last few years and it's easy to see why. Bold and impactful, it can be used with any color you choose and it's a good option for a small space.

The Best Easy Houseplants to Grow in Any Home

house plant

These plants usually attach to trees and grow higher up, so they’re particularly good wall plants. Ideal watering involves letting them wilt slightly, then thoroughly watering them again. A close relative of the fiddle leaf fig, rubber plants are comfortably durable and easy to raise. They enjoy moderate amounts of indirect light, which help them maintain the complex and interesting colors on their leaves. Kalanchoe prefers a narrow temperature range, just 60 to 65 degrees, and they need a lot of indirect sunlight.

The leaves of this plant can fall moderately over the side, so you may need to leave a little space between it and other plants. Other than that, it does well, and it can even thrive near a north-facing window that other plants struggle to grow in. They don’t need much soil but be careful when repotting because the roots are easy to hurt.

Simple to propagate, new plant starts can be grown from both stem and leaf cuttings. A native of Madagascar, dragon trees are drought-tolerant and extremely hardy. Occasionally, under the right conditions, these plants will bloom small flowers in springtime, but this is rare. A flowering member of the spurge family, crown-of-thorns is a particularly beautiful succulent plant, naturally found in Madagascar.

Watering Guide

Few things will kill this plant other than overwatering, so it’s a great choice for beginners and offers a generous margin of error for mistakes. Rubber plants have unusually thick and shiny leaves, which help resist browning and discoloration from chemicals in tap water. They can grow extremely large without pruning, but regular tending will encourage healthy growth and limit their size to whatever matches your room. It’s much easier to give a ponytail palm too little sun instead of too much, so if you’re uncertain, place it somewhere it will get as much as possible. Make sure you use fast-draining soil to help prevent root rot, which can kill them. Ponytail palms are non-toxic to cats and dogs, and as long as they get sun, a little water, and a decent temperature, you can expect them to thrive with minimal effort.

There aren’t many houseplants, let alone succulent ones, that can top kalanchoe’s floral show. You may have encountered it before in grocery stores, laden with bright red, pink, yellow, or orange flowers.

Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum spp.)

"Monstera is one of my favorite plants that make a statement, perfect for a bright open space," Pangborn says. Ms Bishop, who is the horticultural editor of Gardening Australia Magazine, says plant species with running roots or that sucker excessively are "often destructive forces in your garden". We’re growing like never before, and for that to continue, we must keep the UAW out of our state. Coal provided about 16% of U.S. electricity last year, down from about 45% in 2010.

With small bright blooms coming in white, salmon, pink or yellow, this plant is known for its thorny stems which are used in nature as a natural defense mechanism. An unusual looking succulent with long trailing stems, the fleshy leaves of burro’s tail have an interesting texture that almost looks as if they were woven together. Coming in gray-green to blueish-green coloration, burro’s tale is easy care and looks particularly charming when placed in a hanging basket. Eerie Halloween Canal Cruises in Downtown Richmond

richmond canal cruise

From many spots on Brown's Island, the remains of the Richmond and Petersburg railroad bridge are visible. This was the railroad that brought Jefferson Davis to the city to be inaugurated as the President of the Confederacy in 1861. When the city fell to the Union army four years later, all of the James River bridges, including the R&P, were burned. Born in a slave cabin, John Jasper became one of the most famous preachers of his time. Freed by emancipation in 1865 at the age of 53, he founded the Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church in one of the buildings that had housed the Confederate Laboratory on Brown's Island.

Location & Hours

Being on the water as much as we are, we can assure you that watching the sun’s golden glow against the city as the sun gradually retires for the night is a view that will simply never get old. It’s an easy hike and it’s very enjoyable, especially the murals at the one-time hydroelectric plant. Cross the footbridge back over the canal at the 1.9-mile mark and re-trace your steps. This allows you a second opportunity to ogle the colorful murals. All things change when you look at them from different points of view.

I took this route, but honestly, I think your best bet is to re-trace your steps across Brown’s Island and back to the parking area. In April, October and November, 40-minute cruises are offered Thursday through Sunday. Tickets are $12 for adults ( ages 12+) and $8 for seniors and children.

History Medallions on the Canal Walk

On your voyage, you might spy cranes, turtles, herons and (if you’re really lucky) eagles. This is an entirely new way to experience downtown Richmond and the Riverfront and its exhilarating to look at the familiar with a new lens, be that historical or just literally being on the historical canal. Bridges and ferry launches have stood at 14th Street since Richmond's earliest days. The city's first bridge across the James River, a toll bridge named after its owner, John Mayo, was completed in 1788. In 1865, Mayo's bridge was burned by the Confederate army as it evacuated the city. As the Confederates evacuated Richmond in 1865, they deliberately torched bridges, warehouses and arsenals to keep them from the Union army.

Perfect for Large Groups

The bridge was replaced in 1972 by the Manchester Bridge, which includes a legally mandated free walkway. These improvements ushered in the heyday of the James River and Kanawha Canal in Richmond. During the 1850s — and peaking in 1860 — canal traffic was at its busiest. As many as 195 boats regularly traversed the waters, bringing goods such as tobacco and wheat from western Virginia to market, and returning home with finished goods from the city. Trade in rush hour for golden hour as you watch the sun set upon the city.

The canal boat tours of the James River and Kanawha Canal operate throughout the season, seven days a week from May through September, and with varying hours in April, October and November. There is an RVA Bike Share location and a taphouse at the 1.8-mile mark, as well as a kiosk for tour guide-led cruises along the scenic riverfront canal. At the 0.7-mile mark, just east of 11th Street, you’ll reach my favorite part of the Canal Walk. The covered boats seat 35 guests and tours leave every hour from the Turning Basin, between 14th and Dock streets on Virginia Street.

For years, the only river crossing for vehicles and pedestrians was Mayo's toll bridge, at 14th Street. Complaints about the tolls eventually led to the opening of Richmond's first “free” bridge in 1873. The day after it opened, thousands crowded onto the Free Bridge to watch the Reverend John Jasper conduct a large group-baptism ceremony in the river.

In 1742, the town was no more than a fifth of a mile square, with 250 merchants, laborers, fishermen and boatsmen. During the Civil War, the hazardous work of loading powder was carried out on Brown's Island because of its separation from the city by water. On March 13, 1864, a huge explosion in the laboratory killed 46 workers - mostly women whom hard times had forced into this dangerous occupation. Explore some of downtown Richmond's most historic neighborhoods, like Court End, Shockoe Bottom, Shockoe Slip and more, on these engaging and illuminating tours of Richmond's past by The Valentine. Also, A canal walk that has increased commercial activity without sacrificing its unique charm. From Colonial times through World War II, Richmond was a center for tobacco inspection and processing.

The boats can be outfitted with tables of various sizes that can accommodate light refreshments or a more formal, catered meal (catering is not provided by Riverfront Canal Cruises). Stopping at different cruise ports during a Panama Canal crossing makes it easy to savor the varied flavors of these countries, each with its own signature spice and tang. The thrill is not over after you go through the canal locks, there's more to see as you travel through the canal, with tropical flora and fauna adorning the way. You'll get to see other ships as they cross, too, giving you a different vantage point and a new way of learning how the canal works. Cross foggy suspended bridges or zip-line along the treetops at the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve near Puntarenas, Costa Rica, where local travel guides take you deep within the forest as you learn about its precious ecosystems.
